PACT POW is a group of concerned citizens focused on protecting drinking water and recreational use of the waterfront in the Region of Durham.

We are proud of the long tradition of PACT. PACT was originally formed in the mid 80’s to shut down the Brock West Landfill and protest a new Metro Toronto dump on the Brock South Lands. It was because of their efforts that we have the Greenwood Conservation Lands – 677 hectares of protected greenspace connecting Pickering and Ajax.

Today, we are concerned with the declining water quality around the Duffin Creek Sewage Plant. Ajax and Pickering shorelines are slowly deteriorating from excessive algae growth.
