For more than a decade, phosphorus discharged from the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant has been feeding excessive algae growth in the Ajax nearshore.
York and Durham Regions’ plan for “optimization” at the Plant will allow phosphorus loads to grow, causing the algae crisis plaguing the Ajax Waterfront to worsen.
Only tertiary treatment will reduce phosphorus loads, which will help the nearshore recover for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Please make the right choice for our community and Lake Ontario, and require the Regions to implement tertiary treatment in the medium and long-term.
Yes, I would like to receive information updates from the Town of Ajax.
